ABOUT US
History
The Cumnock Village Preschool Association was formed by a group of Cumnock and district parents on the 27th May 1975.
The first preschool session was held at the Cumnock Memorial Hall on 16th July 1975. Two morning sessions were held each week. Cumnock Village Preschool owes its existence to the initiative, enthusiasm and organisational ability of the inaugural committee and the first teacher/director, Janet Atkinson. Janet taught for a total of eight years and provided many children with a happy and rewarding time at preschool.
Where we are today
The preschool is a community based, not-for-profit organisation governed by a voluntary Parent Management Committee. The committee works in partnership with staff to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the service. Upon enrolment, all parents automatically become members of the preschool community.
We are committed to making preschool a positive and enriching experience for every child. During their time with us, children will build meaningful friendships, explore engaging materials and learning environments, and develop skills that foster confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
Licence
Our preschool is licensed to provide education and care for up to 20 children per day, aged 3 to 5 years.
We maintain a staff-to-child ratio of 1 educator to 10 children, ensuring that each child receives individual attention and support in a safe and nurturing environment.
The preschool operates on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30am to 4:00pm during school terms.
Our team consists of a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and experienced educators who hold Certificate III and/or Diploma qualifications in Early Childhood Education and Care. Together, they are dedicated to providing a high-quality learning program that supports each child's growth, development, and wellbeing.
